From Renee - All I can say is that God knows. He knew the reporting trip to Texas would not happen due to a diabetic ulcer in Joels foot. That ulcer led to cellulitis, which put him in acute kidney failure which led to dialysis for only 3 weeks. Praise the Lord! Wow...what a journey, all of that in March. We are now in June and the foot is still not healed completely. He provided for the Bible studies as I had already planned sub teachers so I could be away. He knew it all. I am weary, I have to be honest. But we are all losing weight , getting healthy to encourage Joel in his journey to wellness, whateer that will look like. Your continued prayers are appreciated. Praying to be in Texas in late Fall. God willing. His Word to me is Feed My Sheep and so I will, until He comes. I love you all. -Renee Zahn
2018 Womens Retreat - On June 8th, 4 women entered Dakota Womens Correctional Center, all with the desire to see woman come to Christ. Three services were held through June 9th and boy did God have His way! There were 22 women who attended. The alter was full throughtout the retreat.
Vonda Harris, from In His Hands Outreach in Houston, TX, shared her story. What a powerful story it is! TO GOD BE THE GLORY. Annie Larson came and shared her story as well. God put everyone and every detail in place. Lynn Taylor, who is team teaching at the prison alongside Renee, has a heart for these women. Her focus and prayer on what God has her doing inside week to week truly prepared the women to receive the message that God had for each one. She is a Precept leader and teaches the Word and only the WORD. And she is from Alabama.
Amandas story from this event is so incredible. She met Renee at another facility in Bismarck. She came forward during the retreat and surrendered to Christ. On Saturday June 30th, she was baptized, along with two other women from the retreat. She is overcoming a lot of pain from her childhood, as many are. Already she has emailed Renee that her mother has contacted her and will allow her to have contact with her kids. Amandas mom told her that she has never stopped praying for her. When bridges with families have been burned and trust is nowhere to be found, GOD CAN RESTORE EVERYTHING.
The amazing thing about this retreat that was different from others we have done is the way the women were so ready to receive what God had for them. All were attentive and participative and joyful beyond words. It was a powerful work of the Holy Spirit. All of us were so blessed and amazed at what God did and is still doing there. Renee starts teaching again in July after being gone during Joels illness. Lynn is accepted well by the ladies and is a true blessing that Renee has prayed for to partner with her in the work at DWCRC. Thank you for praying.
From the Heart of the President: - LESSONS LEARNED - My first lesson learned is from Psalm 23, that He MAKES me lie down in green pastures. A lesson I would NOT have chosen for myself. Even in the stillness of knowing that He is God, He has broken down my stubborn pride in allowing others to take care of me. So what I would advise others is to not try this at home. I have learned a lot about humility. I am ready to get out of the house and get back to teaching studies. My foot, though not completely healed, is better. I am ready to continue to fight the good fight. Thank you all for praying for me during this time. It has been through God that I am being healed, not only physically, but spiritually as well. Normal kidney GFR is 90-120. Mine are at 27. BUT I AM NOT ON DIALYSIS. The lesson in dialysis was a very lonely, hopeless place. In that unit, I told God that I do not belong here. He told me to look at His servant Joseph - through all he endured, Joseph was always right where he was supposed to be. And friends, that is where I am - exactly where God wants me to be.-Joel
Praises 2018 - Womens retreat saw 22 womens lives changed. It is awesome to see the power of God to deliver so many women from the bondage of sin... Jesus said we would do greater things than He did in John. When He does, why is it so hard to believe?
